The Cedarville City Council adopted an ordinance at its June meeting establishing two wards and two council positions per ward after suspending the usual reading requirements and approving the measure unanimously. Mayor Beverly Pyle presided over the session and Recorder/Treasurer Jane Dickson read the ordinance title before council action.
The measure, passed 4-0, sets the city’s representation structure and responds to the requirement that Second Class cities be divided into wards. Mayor Pyle said the city had discussed warding previously while considering how to fill a vacant council seat and asked members to consider interested residents and forthcoming ward boundary decisions.
Council members and staff framed the ordinance as an administrative step to align elections and representation; the mayor also used the meeting to highlight outreach efforts tied to a planned community clinic and to encourage attendance at a June 27 community meeting organized with State Representative Prater and other local leaders.
The ordinance’s adoption concludes the formal step of creating wards; the council did not specify implementation dates for elections or mapping in the minutes. Follow-up was expected as the city refined ward boundaries and appointment procedures.
