Roosevelt County commissioners voted June 16 to approve a temporary IT services agreement with Makeo IT that the board said will cost about $7,500 per month and cover remote support, endpoint and email security, managed Wi‑Fi and PoE switches, a service desk and Barracuda data backup. The chair presented the vendor quote and the motion carried with no discussion.
The contract was introduced as an interim solution “until we can get a new IT person hired with the county,” the chair said. The board noted the agreement lists eight line items totaling roughly $7,500 a month; additional services beyond the quoted items would be billed at $125 per hour.
County officials said the arrangement is intended to maintain operations while the county recruits permanent staff. The chair described the package as including both security functions (endpoint and email protection) and operational support (Wi‑Fi, switches and backup).
The motion to approve the Makeo IT agreement was made and seconded; the chair called the vote and the motion passed. The board did not set a public timeline for hiring a permanent IT employee.
