Local authorities are investigating several serious incidents across Arkansas after the broadcast reported a homicide, a pool-area shooting and a drowning.
McGee police said officers found 57-year-old Michael Keys dead inside an apartment at the CIC apartments; two teenage boys were arrested and could face capital murder, aggravated robbery and theft charges, the report said. Investigators asked anyone with information to contact the McGee Police Department.
In Stuttgart, police and video obtained by THV11 showed a man in a red hoodie approach two people near the Splash Pad public pool and fire what appeared to be a handgun. Three people were reported recovering after the weekend shooting; the aquatic center remains closed and police said additional arrests are possible. Authorities have not released suspect names as those believed involved are juveniles.
The Carl Reus Jr. Aquatic Center in Pine Bluff will remain closed all week after a woman drowned last Wednesday, the city said. Jefferson County officials have sent the woman's body to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for an official cause of death while the city conducts an internal review.
Why it matters: The incidents underscore ongoing public-safety concerns at community recreational sites and have prompted facility closures while investigations continue.
What's next: Police described active investigations in McGee and Pine Bluff and said more arrests could follow in the Stuttgart shooting. City officials and law enforcement did not provide additional public timelines in the broadcast.
