Adam Johnson, Cumberland County’s telecommunications manager, said the county will launch a new digital voice automatic software in June to speed how quickly calls reach first responders and allow 911 dispatchers to focus on critical call information.
“I’m happy to announce that coming this June, we’ll be launching our new digital voice automatic software,” Johnson said in the recorded announcement. “This will help first responders get calls more quickly and allow 911 dispatchers to focus on critical call information.”
The recording also includes radio dispatch audio that announced a “52 Bravo” fire alarm activation and named Engine 5 and Engine 6, giving the location as 500 Executive Place, at Executive Place and Raven Hill Drive. That dispatch audio appears to be part of the same promotional or informational recording and underscored the county’s emphasis on faster, clearer communications for emergency response.
County officials did not provide a specific calendar date beyond the month of June; the announcement described the timing only as “coming this June.” Officials also did not specify which vendor will supply the software, the cost, or the schedule for training and deployment.
The announcement framed the software as a tool to route calls and free dispatcher attention for critical details, with a closing tagline in the recording calling for “faster dispatch, smarter resources, better community.” The county did not announce additional operational or procurement details during the recorded message.
The county has not released further scheduling or procurement information; Johnson indicated only the expected launch month.
