Superintendent announces two resignations; district showcase planned for May 13

Superintendent Lisa reported two staff resignations and several upcoming district activities during the meeting.

Personnel: Lisa announced Mount View High School principal Matt Zavala has submitted a resignation but will remain in post through the end of the school year; the district will begin next steps to fill that position. She also reported that Kim Jamerson (identified in packets as the Mount View Middle School EdTech) has resigned effective at the end of the week.

Events and outreach: Lisa promoted a District Showcase scheduled for May 13, noting more than 68 staff volunteers to present student work and projects. She distributed brochures to board members and asked them to help publicize the event.

Equity and Cultural Responsiveness: Board member Mike reported on an ad hoc Equity and Cultural Responsiveness advisory group that has engaged teachers, parents, staff and students; the committee has conducted student assemblies and surveys, and scheduled two speakers for student events, including a May 14 presentation focused on acts of kindness.

No formal personnel actions were taken at the meeting on these resignations; members expressed appreciation and directed the superintendent to begin replacement steps where needed.
