The Bay County Board of Commissioners on June 16 approved a public‑works contract to stabilize a nearly one‑mile stretch of Owen Road between Deep Springs and Ring Road in North Bay County.
Scott Chandler of the county’s public works department presented the bids and said Anderson Columbia was the low bidder on the project, which Chandler described as “just under a mile between Deep Springs and Ring Road.” Chandler noted the bid was competitive and offered to answer questions.
A commissioner who spoke during discussion characterized the project as about a mile in length and cited a price of roughly $1,100,000, thanking staff for using surtax dollars to make the work possible. The board moved, seconded and approved awarding the contract by roll call.
Why it matters: The award funds stabilization of a dirt road used by residents in North Bay County, and the county said surtax proceeds and other local funds are being used to advance the project.
What’s next: Staff will finalize contract documents with the low bidder and proceed with the project schedule and implementation steps described in the procurement documents.
