The Mishawaka Common Council on Monday approved several administrative measures, including an amended ordinance establishing responsible‑bidding practices for publicly funded public‑works projects and a resolution adding a parcel to the city's acquisition list for long‑range corridor planning.
Council members voted to amend proposed ordinance 2025‑45 by deleting a section on prequalification of contractors and then approved the ordinance on second reading after a committee report. Michael Compton offered public comment in support, and council members thanked staff for collaborative work drafting the local version of the procurement rules.
Separately, the council approved Resolution R2026‑23 to add 1212 South Union Street to the city's property acquisition list associated with an existing area improvement project; planning staff said the parcel recently came up for sale and adding it to the list is a procedural requirement for future acquisition work and TIF processes.
Both measures passed on roll call votes recorded by the clerk. Council also approved a procedural change moving the July regular meeting from July 20 to July 27, 2026.
