Village hears gas-aggregation renewal plan; Priority Power named in first reading

Josh Adams, representing Priority Power (formerly Aspen Energy), told the Ashville Village Council that the village’s natural-gas aggregation is up for renewal in September and outlined options for returning to a fixed two-year supply. "Right now... I'm kind of dialing in for Ashville is, uh, a fixed rate around 67 cents," Adams said, describing supplier conversations and the timeline for opt-out notices and PUCO certifications.

Adams explained the program is an opt-out aggregation: eligible households are automatically enrolled unless they choose to opt out, and there are no fees to join or leave at most points in the term. He said practical constraints — notice windows and certification rules — require lead time in order to start a new term in September and that, if necessary, the start could be pushed to October.

Councilors asked whether the administrator should have authority to execute hedging transactions on favorable days; Adams said such a resolution would let local officials work with suppliers to act within preapproved parameters. The council held the first reading of Resolution 11-2026 to appoint Priority Power Management LLC as Ashville's natural gas broker and declared that reading an emergency for timing; the resolution will return for subsequent readings and a final vote.

Adams also emphasized customer service commitments: residents could reach him directly with billing questions and staff would avoid routing residents to an external call center.
