The Delaware Senate used its June 10 floor session to confirm a slate of gubernatorial nominees and to pass consent calendars containing reappointments and bills.
The chamber confirmed Michael H. Tipton as a commissioner of the Superior Court after the Reading Clerk read the governor’s nomination; a roll call produced 20 yes votes and one absent, and the Senate declared Tipton confirmed. The Senate likewise confirmed Caroline L. Brannigan to be a commissioner of the Family Court, and approved additional nominations to the Professional Standards Board and the State Public Integrity Commission, among others, with similar majority roll calls.
Senator Secola (floor leader for executive business) and other presiders called for roll calls on the executive committee consent calendar number 13 and on consent calendar 60; both passed on recorded votes. Consent calendar 13 included numerous reappointments and local judicial reappointments; consent calendar 60 included concurrent resolutions recognizing adult education and National Homeownership Month.
After the confirmations the Senate recessed briefly so nominees could be publicly congratulated and then returned to continue the legislative agenda.
Roll calls and the Reading Clerk’s statements establishing the nominations and the majority votes are part of the Senate record for June 10.
