Airport fireworks plan for July 3 requires city special-event form and council approval, FAA approval documented

Dan Gillis told the committee he has documented FAA approval for the airport’s July 3 fireworks display but said the event still requires a city special-event form and approval from the City Council.

Committee member Vic Roeder volunteered to assist with the event-form process. Minutes say tenants will be reminded that drones and personal fireworks outside the permitted event plan are prohibited; planners will use airport-approved low-profile barricades, crowd control measures and issue NOTAMs to close the airport during the event.

No formal approval by the City Council or final event permit is recorded in the minutes. The committee’s next steps include completing the special-event paperwork and coordinating with city officials for final authorization.
