Unified Fire Authority Chief Nathan Bogenschutz and Unified Police Department Lieutenant Chris Benedict briefed the Copperton Town Council on public-safety activity during the May 20 meeting.
Chief Bogenschutz reviewed the UFA quarterly report and said Copperton experienced 15 incidents during the quarter, a slight increase from the prior year. He reminded residents that fireworks are prohibited in Copperton, said an online interactive fireworks-restriction map will be active June 1, and announced a wildfire town hall on June 11 at the Emergency Operations Center at 380 South 900 West.
Lieutenant Chris Benedict reviewed April UPD statistics, reporting 22 calls for service for the month and noting a seasonal trend of increased public-peace-related calls as weather improves. Benedict also announced that Sergeant Harry Holt would return as the Community-Oriented Policing (COP) Sergeant serving Magna, Kearns and Copperton; the council expressed appreciation for COP initiatives and for planned introductions of Sergeant Holt to the community.
No formal council action was taken on these presentations; the reports were received for the record.
