HRC votes to ask City Council to reassign liaison after recent challenges

The City of York Human Relations Commission voted June 15 to ask the City Council to reassign a new council liaison at the council's next meeting.

The motion, made and seconded during new business, passed after a roll-call-style voice vote in which Commissioners Mina Edmonson, Karen Crosby, Maline Torres, John Easter and Jason Quiry recorded their support. The chair summarized the result as a majority: "There is half plus one," and the motion was accepted.

Commissioners had earlier been informed that five commissioners — Quiry, Crosby, Torres, Easter and Edmonson — were reappointed to another HRC term and that those reappointments had been challenged by Council member Supler.
