Alpharetta awards Alpha Loop design contract to local firm for $314,800

The Alpharetta City Council approved an award of RFP 26‑114 on June 15 for design work on segments of the Alpha Loop, authorizing a contract with Pab Dawson Consulting (an Alpharetta‑based firm) not to exceed $314,800.

Director Savage said the RFP covers design and permitting for the Alpha Loop segment including Northwinds Parkway, Hannebrige Road and Morrison Parkway and that bundling the design work delivers economies of scale for surveying and engineering. Staff said the selected firm was the highest‑rated respondent and estimated the design and permitting phase would take about a year.

Council members confirmed funding availability, noting that unallocated T+2 funds (transportation funding referenced in the T+ votes) could be used for the project if a later T+3 funding measure does not pass. There was no public comment on the item.

The motion to award the contract was made by Councilwoman Reeves, seconded by Mayor Pro Tim Merkel, and passed unanimously. The mayor was authorized to execute all necessary documents to finalize the contract.

Next steps: Staff will finalize the contract with Pab Dawson Consulting and begin the design and permitting process; construction funding and timing will depend on T+3 funding and future capital planning.
