Criminal Justice Commission reappoints Griffin, Rosato, Gaylor and Kelly

The Criminal Justice Commission at a special meeting approved several senior reappointments after interviews and an executive session.

Chair Justice Justin McDonald opened the meeting and the panel moved into executive session to discuss the nominations and to identify candidates to interview for the Danbury state's attorney vacancy; interviews were scheduled for June 29. When the commission reconvened, members nominated and voted on the pending reappointments.

Patrick J. Griffin was nominated and, by voice vote of participating members, reappointed as Connecticut's Chief State's Attorney. The commission recorded the vote as passing unanimously among voting members (4–0), with Griffin not participating in the vote. John J. Rosato was nominated and reappointed as Deputy Chief State's Attorney for Administration, Personnel and Finance; that motion passed by voice vote (4–0).

Later in the session, after separate confirmation hearings, the commission nominated and reappointed Michael A. Gaylor as State's Attorney for the Judicial District of Middlesex and Margaret E. Kelly as State's Attorney for the Judicial District of Ansonia-Milford. Both reappointments passed by voice vote and were recorded as unanimous. Chair McDonald closed the meeting after no further business.

The votes followed candidate presentations and exchanges with commissioners on staffing levels, workflow and technology needs in prosecutors' offices across the state. No public commenters spoke on the nominations during the public-comment periods recorded in the meeting.
