Dr. Reichart, Hamilton Community Schools superintendent, told the board during the superintendent’s report that the upcoming school year will be his last in the role.
"I just want to make it public that the upcoming school year will be my last year as superintendent here at Hamilton," Dr. Reichart said, placing the district on notice to begin a search for his replacement.
The superintendent’s announcement followed a summary of recent operations: he praised graduation logistics and staff efforts, offered condolences to a family that experienced a death shortly before graduation, and updated the board on field maintenance and community athletics. He said the district is working to improve an overused infield that has worn where outside leagues have used the grass rather than the dirt base paths.
Dr. Reichart also described safety work under way after a minor traffic incident involving parents: district staff have been coordinating with INDOT to secure an official school zone with flashing lights to be activated during arrival and dismissal windows. He said the zone is expected to be in place before the next school year and operate during morning and afternoon bell times.
The board did not take any formal personnel action related to the superintendent’s announcement during the meeting. The board will decide next steps for a superintendent search at a later date.
