The Board of Zoning Appeals for the City of Brentwood approved a 520-square-foot detached accessory structure at 1413 New Haven Drive on June 15, 2026, after staff recommended approval with standard conditions.
Allison, a city staff member, told the board the applicant, Jeff Peterson, requested permission to construct the detached accessory structure in the rear buildable area. Allison said the structure would be wood framed with a concrete backer and stucco to complement the house, have a shingle roof and be approximately 16 feet tall, and that staff recommended approval subject to all building codes and staff notes.
Peterson, the homeowner, said the project is a pergola — an open shade pavilion to complement the backyard pool — and not an enclosed pool house. A board member questioned a plan rendering that showed a pool house; Peterson and staff confirmed the rendering reflected an earlier concept and that the application will be revised to show the pergola. Allison reported no neighbor calls in response to mailed notifications and no members of the public spoke at the hearing.
A motion to approve was made, seconded and carried by voice vote. The approval remains subject to the conditions read into the record and compliance with applicable building permits and inspections.
The board moved on to its next agenda item.
