A pair of parents told the Goose Creek CISD Board of Trustees they believe district discipline was applied unevenly in an April incident and asked trustees to review the matter.
Brenda Lopez told the board that multiple students violated conduct rules during an April 12 event but that "only two students were blamed and punished while others walked away without accountability." She said the selective enforcement undermines trust and requested the board review the district's handling, require staff to follow district policy and due process, and take corrective action if selective discipline is confirmed.
"This is not a misunderstanding nor is it a communication error. This is a selective enforcement and is unacceptable," Lopez said during public comment.
Adriana Lopez, speaking later, urged consistent accountability and proposed establishing a leadership code of conduct for student leaders as well as standardized supports for students undergoing disciplinary action so they do not become isolated.
A board member or staff member told the speakers that the district has procedures for formally pursuing such complaints through the chain of command and offered assistance in initiating the process; the board noted that matters typically must be processed administratively before appearing on a future board agenda. The board did not take direct action on the allegations at the meeting.
Lopez referenced Senate Bill 179 (David's Law) while urging protections against cyberbullying; the board did not announce any further investigatory steps during the session.
