The Wachusett Regional School District Committee unanimously approved several administrative and labor items and moved a personnel policy forward during its regular meeting.
The committee voted to approve a contract with John Lumborough as Assistant District Treasurer and ratified contracts with the Massachusetts Nurses Association (MNA). Both actions passed by voice vote and were recorded as unanimous.
Members also voted to retain outside counsel for the 2026-2027 school year, appointing Stoneman, Chandler & Miller LLP and Nuttall McEvoy & Joyce PC after administration said the firms served the district well and their billings are as expected and budgeted.
On policy, administration requested amendment of Policy 5252 (personnel management; restraint prevention and behavior support) to meet a state's content deadline of Aug. 15. Administration and counsel drafted revised language that expands coverage on seclusion and adds an explicit reference to "time out." A staff member (identified in the meeting as Ace) said the administrative team has begun training tied to the revised procedures and that implementation should be ready by fall. The committee waived the reading for the first reading and approved moving the policy forward.
The consent agenda was approved with two executive session minutes (items 3 and 4) removed for future consideration. The consent agenda included organizational and regular-session minutes from 05/19/2026 and accepted donations to local schools: unspecified donations from Dawson PTO, $200 from the Sterling Arts Collaborative for high-school arts, and $600 from the Wachusett Area Rotary Club.
Committee officers and subcommittee chairs also gave routine updates: Business & Finance reported welcoming new member Ann Marie Stoica and reviewing treasurer reports and the FY27 calendar; Legal Affairs reported selecting a vice chair and following up on negotiations with nurse and WREA units.
