At its June meeting the High Point City Council approved a slate of routine items, including an appointment to the Planning and Zoning Commission, reappointments to the Parks and Recreation Commission and market/merit adjustments for several city-appointed positions.
Appointment and reappointments: The council confirmed Cody Lleair to the Planning and Zoning Commission, with the term effective immediately and expiring June 30, 2028. It also reappointed Cameron Marsden, Anser Mimmude and Daryl Williams to the Parks and Recreation Commission for three-year terms beginning July 1, 2026.
Compensation and employment agreement change: The council approved a market adjustment (4%) and a merit increase (2%) for the city attorney and city clerk, and a 6% market adjustment and 2% merit increase for the city manager, all to be effective July 1, 2026. The council also approved a modification to the city manager’s employment agreement to remove a provision that linked an additional retirement contribution to participation in the city's health insurance plan.
Votes at a glance: All listed motions were approved by voice vote. The meeting record indicates the council voted "I" on each motion and adopted the agenda and consent agenda earlier in the meeting. Council Member Johnson was absent.
Why it matters: The adjustments update compensation for senior city officials and change contract terms for the city manager; the appointments fill citizen roles on advisory bodies that shape planning and parks policy.
Provenance: Motions and approvals recorded at SEG 437–SEG 509 (appointment and compensation items).
