The Prospect City Council presented the 2026 Beach Craig Mile Public Service Award to Lynn Granger on June 15, recognizing decades of volunteer leadership and service projects coordinated with local scout troops.
Jason Pierce, scout executive and CEO of the Lincoln Heritage Council of Scouting America, introduced Granger and praised his hands-on approach: "Lynn's willing to roll up his sleeves..." Pierce credited Granger with mentoring scouts and building community projects.
Council and parks leaders noted Granger's long record of service. Linda Wardell, longtime chair of the parks committee, cited more than 40 projects including boardwalk repairs and trail improvements; David Holmes, a council member and parks committee participant, recounted working with Granger on boardwalk reconstructions.
Acceptance remarks: In his remarks, Lynn Granger introduced family members and described the scouting contributions to Prospect. He told the council the downtown recognition display reflects 44 Eagle Scout projects accepted by the city to date, and he said, "Of the 44 Eagle project accepted, 100% were completed." The council presented Granger a certificate dated June 15, 2026.
Context: The recognition follows the mayor's earlier acknowledgement of a new permanent Eagle Scout tribute on display at city hall and a temporary popup art exhibition running through Aug. 14.
Next step: The council indicated plans to backfill certificates for prior award recipients and closed the award presentation before moving to financial reports.
