San Felipe‑Del Rio CISD board approves routine business, grant submissions and personnel actions

The San Felipe‑Del Rio CISD board of trustees on June 15 unanimously approved a bundle of routine and administrative items, including policy certifications, interlocal agreements, federal grant submission and multiple personnel actions.

The board adopted the consent agenda without pull requests and approved a certification of compliance under Senate Bill 12 — confirming the district's local policies and handbooks have been aligned with the cited provisions of the Texas Education Code. The board also approved updates to the district board member handbook and a resolution setting committee assignments and allowing committees with fewer-than‑quorum members with advance posting that a quorum may exist.

The board authorized the superintendent to sign a 2026–27 Memorandum of Understanding with Valverie Training Center to support the VCCT ACE grant and after‑school programming, with the district providing transportation and student data-sharing as described by administration. The board also approved submission of the ESSA consolidated federal grant application (Title I–IV) for 2026–27, with a total planning amount of $4,815,538.

In personnel actions approved after closed session, the board accepted resignations and retirements and ratified multiple new hires across special education and classroom positions. The board also approved the appointment of Carol Franco as the registered nurse at Roberto Bobby Barrera Elementary STEM Magnet School. A level‑three parent/student grievance appeal was upheld consistent with administration’s level‑two decision; the board directed administration to provide training for coaches and sponsors on district discipline procedures for out‑of‑town travel and to update written procedures and report back to the board.
