Board approves payroll and claims, pays bills and adopts transit drug-and-alcohol policy

During the June 15 meeting the New Castle Board of Works handled routine administrative business.

The board voted to suspend the reading of minutes from the previous meeting and approved payroll, water/wastewater and general claims covering June 1–June 15, 2026. It also approved payment of two United bills totaling just under $12,000.

On the transit policy, Doug confirmed he had reviewed the updated drug-and-alcohol policy, saying the state required an update after the city’s vendor changed and the city is now under a new contract with a different business. The board voted to adopt the revised policy by voice vote.

All motions were recorded as carried by voice vote with a two-to-zero tally in the meeting transcript. No contingencies, dollar breakdowns beyond the near-$12,000 United bills, or additional procedural conditions were recorded in the discussion.
