Planning commission backs multiple rezones; Loudon County items set for June 29

County staff presented agenda items A through I — nine separate zoning-map amendments and lot-line adjustments — all recommended by the planning commission and placed on the June 29 commission meeting agenda.

Staff described item A as a rezoning for a parcel at 1295 Cook Drive from A2 (rural residential) to A3 (developing agricultural). Other proposed actions included a lot-line adjustment at 921 Phelps Road (item B), a rezoning on Jundike Road (item C), lot divisions at 465 Black Road (item D), and a 3.84-acre rezoning at 18102 Bills Chapel Road (item E). Staff noted item E’s planning commission recommendation was taken on a 7–2 vote.

Item F would rezone part of 6069 Highway 70 East from R1 (suburban residential) to CFD (community facilities district) to allow a church; staff said approval would include stipulations and that zoning would revert to the prior classification if the church purchase or construction did not proceed. Additional lot adjustments were presented for 857 Belt Road (item G), 4075 Highway 11 West (item H) and a one-acre parcel cut from a 25-acre tract at 2921 Moss Road (item I).

Staff said all nine items were recommended by the planning commission and will be placed on the June 29 commission meeting agenda for final action. No public speakers addressed the rezoning items during the workshop.
