The Ballard City Council unanimously approved awarding the 1000 South corridor construction contract to Perco Rock Co., the apparent low bidder at $3,473,118, following a presentation by Jeff Baker of Jones & DeMille.
Jeff Baker said eight bids were received and recommended Perco Rock Co. based on his experience with the company: "based on his experience with Perco Rock Co., they do quality work," he told the council. Council Member Shaun Murray moved to award the contract; the motion was seconded and carried with all members voting in favor.
In an engineering update, Baker reported that Roosevelt City has approved the final memorandum of understanding for an easement on their side and only paperwork remains to be signed. The city will invoice Roosevelt City and SSD2 for their share of PTIF funding. The project is still awaiting issuance of an Army Corps permit before work can proceed.
Council did not debate alternative bidders at length during the meeting. The award authorizes city staff to finalize contract documents and proceed with preconstruction steps pending required permits and executed easements.
