The Franklin City Council voted to grant a waiver of non-compliance for tax-abatement paperwork submitted by Airtoomic, a local business that missed a May 15 filing deadline related to a 2025 expansion.
Community development specialist Dana Monson told the council the request involves three related resolutions (Resolution 201811 and the 2025 expansion filings reflected in Resolutions 202506 and 202507) and the company failed to file a Form 322 and CF-1s by the county deadline. Monson said Airtoomic contacted staff when it discovered the oversight and promptly provided the documents; she described the company as cooperative and apologetic, saying they “did not understand about the form 322.”
The request came before the council after Airtoomic asked the Economic Development Commission for the same relief. Councilmember Taylor said the company “is above on wages, above on real property, above on personal property,” and described Airtoomic as a growing local employer; he said there were no compliance concerns that would weigh against granting a waiver. Monson added that because no tax payments tied to the filings had been made, no refunds were required.
A council member identified as Shawn moved to approve the waiver; a second was recorded. Council members voiced their assent and no opposition was recorded. The council’s action clears the path for the company’s abatement paperwork to be processed despite the missed filing deadline.
The meeting otherwise handled routine business, including approval of minutes from the June 1 meeting and brief council comments. The council adjourned after the vote.
