The Murray City School District board approved two administrative hires during its June 11 meeting.
Scott Weihongi introduced Todd Barrow, selected from Boxelder School District, as Horizon Elementary principal effective July 1. A board member moved to support Barrow’s appointment; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote. Barrow thanked the board and said he was ‘‘amazed at how welcoming Murray City School District is’’ and noted his experience with dual-immersion programs.
The board also approved Brian Epson as the district’s new business administrator, effective Aug. 1. Staff said Epson currently serves as director of budget development for Granite School District and brings experience in fiscal operations and capital planning. A motion to approve Epson was seconded and passed by voice vote; Epson introduced himself and his family and said he was ‘‘excited to get to work.’’
Why it matters: the two hires fill operational leadership roles—school-level leadership in a dual-immersion setting at Horizon and the district’s chief fiscal officer role—positions that help implement the budget and oversee capital projects.
Procedural note: both approvals were recorded as voice votes in the meeting transcript; no roll-call tallies were provided.
