At the June 12 meeting Rankin County supervisors approved several procurement and construction matters on the agenda. The purchasing clerk presented semiannual vendor bid recommendations for asphalt, slurry seal, microsurfacing, culverts and aggregates; the board approved the recommended vendors. The board also ratified reverse-auction awards for equipment: a used excavator for $163,796 and a track-type tractor for roughly $257,000.
County Engineer Tim Parker brought a change order to close out an ARPA-funded project (a small deductive adjustment) and requested approval of pay request number four to 2B Dirt Contracting LLC for $76,356.25 related to demolition at the former Brandon Cement Plant; motions to approve carried. Parker also recommended moving two posted local bridges into replacement programming under the LSBP and SABP bridge funds; those recommendations were approved to advance the bridges into the funding process.
On construction authorizations, the board granted the board president authority to execute an agreement with J. Stevens Construction Group for the district attorney building and to issue the notice to proceed; the motion carried. Supervisors noted remaining site issues such as utility relocations on related county sites that staff will continue to resolve.
