A proposal to install a 105‑foot monopole telecommunications tower at 760 French Road was tabled by the Cheektowaga Planning Board after questions about capacity needs, visual impact and proximity to a nearby airfield.
The applicant said the tower is proposed to relieve capacity on two nearby sites (identified in the application as Blossom South and Gardenville) that the carrier’s RF analysis indicates are overloaded. The applicant described a standard tower compound, room for collocation, and the need for additional capacity to handle local traffic.
Board members asked for balloon testing, specific photo vantage points for visual simulations, and additional information about FAA and federal agency notice requirements because of a nearby airfield. Staff said the application would require coordination with federal agencies and confirmed the town would assist in identifying viewshed photo locations and cross‑sections.
Given the outstanding visual‑impact work, the board voted to table the application until the applicant provided balloon‑test results and the requested documentation. The applicant agreed to schedule the balloon fly once the town identified preferred photo vantage points.
