At its June 11 meeting the Ashland Board of City Commissioners adopted changes to the city code to incorporate definitions and land-use regulations for qualified manufactured homes and to amend the tables of permitted and conditional uses.
Mr. Wheeler introduced the ordinance amending Ordinance No. 101 (Series 1986) to add definitions and district regulations related to manufactured homes. Commissioners voted for final adoption on second reading by voice vote.
Separately, the commission considered an amendment to the code related to recreational vehicles that, in staff and planning-commission recommendation, would limit stays to six months with a one-time six-month extension. Commissioners raised concerns about whether that time limit would create a de facto campground inside city limits and how it would affect traveling nurses and construction workers who dwell in travel trailers for extended assignments. Eden McKenzie confirmed the RV recommendation came from the planning commission and said staff would supplement the record when planning staff (Katherine Niger) returns.
Because commissioners requested the planning commission's minutes and rationale for the six-month recommendation, a motion to table the recreational-vehicle ordinance to the next meeting carried by voice vote.
