Kaysville planning commission approves temporary farm stand for Victoria Carlson

Commissioner Packer called the meeting to order and the commission considered a conditional use permit for a temporary farm stand at 1872 West 75 South for Victoria Carlson. Planning staff presented the application and recommended approval.

Mindy, a planning staff member, told the commission the application was thorough and compliant with city rules: "this is the most thorough application I've ever received," and she described the proposed location, required 10‑foot setbacks, a 180‑day limit on the stand's operation and that all products would be prepared under the Cottage Food Act. Mindy said a sign had been posted on June 4 and staff had received no objections.

After short discussion and an acknowledgement from commissioners that the farm‑stand ordinance adopted last year has been well‑used, a commissioner moved to approve the conditional use permit. The motion was seconded and commissioners voted "aye". Commissioner Packer closed the item by wishing the applicant well and directing staff to send a conditional use permit letter and complete the business license process so Carlson may begin operations.

The permit allows the farm stand to operate for up to 180 days and requires nightly removal of the stand; staff will issue the formal approval letter and complete licensing procedures before the stand opens.
