Bridgton announces election winners; new officials to be sworn in after town meeting

Ashley Alrech opened Bridgton's annual town meeting by thanking the election staff for their work during the prior day's secret‑ballot voting and then read the official results. "They are just so incredible," Alrech said of election workers, praising their "professionalism, patience, and positive attitudes." The meeting then recognized the newly elected local officials and invited them forward for swearing‑in and a reception.

The results announced by Alrech included Moren Harpell elected to a three‑year select board/assessor/overseer position (664 votes) and Amy Stum elected to a separate three‑year position (576 votes). For planning board seats, Angela Cook won a three‑year term with 1,170 votes and Margaret Lynn won a one‑year term with 1,190 votes. Erica Roland and Jessica Warner were elected to alternate planning board seats (1,157 and 1,166 votes, respectively). For MSAD61 director positions, Micah Peterson received 1,174 votes and Douglas Bowie was elected via write‑in (33 votes). Barry Gilman was elected water district trustee with 1,212 votes.

Voters approved three warrant questions announced at the meeting: the comprehensive plan item (Question 1), the Jim Douglas Road discontinuance (Question 2), and corrections to the shoreland zoning maps (Question 3). The town clerk reported a total of 1,623 ballots cast, which she said represents approximately 36% of the voter list.

After results and procedural items were handled, the moderator invited those newly elected to come forward to be sworn into office. The swearing‑in and refreshments followed the formal meeting close.
