State safety audit finds district compliant; rooftop HVAC work and track resurfacing on schedule

Superintendent reported the Indiana Office of School Safety completed a review and site visit and issued a final report dated May 26, 2026 finding the district compliant with emergency‑preparedness and school‑safety requirements under Indiana Code and the Indiana Administrative Code. The superintendent thanked assistant principals Cameron Baines and Jake Wolf, and the district's SROs Dan Sour and Bill Leup, for their work preparing for the audit and noted the district will not be subject to another random review for at least three years because of the positive result.

A staff presenter provided a facilities update, saying rooftop HVAC units were set on the elementary building, remaining work at the high school will continue, and the project is scheduled for completion by early August so schools will have the upgraded systems when classes resume. The presenter also said the track has been milled and a new surface will be applied in the coming weeks.

The superintendent read the text of the final report, which noted the elementary site was compliant with emergency preparedness and safety requirements; the board expressed appreciation to staff and local law enforcement for their cooperation.
