The East Hampton Village Zoning Board of Appeals on June 12 approved several area-variance requests and closed or continued multiple hearings.
The board voted to accept the May 8, 2026 minutes, then granted three determinations by unanimous roll call: the application of Natalie Byron and Timothy Chisik (177 Cove Hollow Road) to construct a patio extension and spa; the Jewish Center of the Hamptons (44 Woods Lane) for alterations and additions to a building used for religious purposes; and a coverage variance for the Benjamin Lewis Zucker Trust (38 Hunting Lane) to construct an egress. Each approval passed after a motion, second and affirmative roll-call vote.
Later in the meeting the board closed a continued hearing and issued a determination for Matrite Properties LLC (35 Middle Lane). Applicant John Turb told the board that neighbors’ concerns — chiefly that the existing accessory building not be raised or moved closer to the property line — had been incorporated into an amended declaration of covenants and restrictions. The board voted to grant the variances to convert the pre‑existing nonconforming structure to a legal accessory dwelling unit (ADU) with conditions and recorded a roll‑call vote in favor.
Several items were left open for further administrative review. The board reopened the matter for 15 Jones Road LLC at the applicant’s request and left the application for 153 Egypt Lane (Michael Brian Greyville and Daniel Dokus) open pending village‑engineer review of a septic dewatering plan. The board also asked staff to renotice the Pizzo (37 Church Street) coverage application after a discrepancy was found between site-plan and the latest survey.
The ZBA closed the public hearings it did not keep open and adjourned the meeting.
