The Scofield Planning Commission voted to recommend Ordinance 6-2026, which amends Chapter 2 (municipal planning) and Chapter 5 (land-use regulations), to the town council.
During a review of the draft ordinance, a commissioner moved that the panel recommend the ordinance to the council. "So I make a motion that we accept this or that we recommend to the council," a commissioner said. The motion was seconded and the commission approved the recommendation; no dissent was recorded.
Commissioners and staff said the draft reflects previous work on conditional uses and other cleanups to the land-use code. A staff member told the commission the changes were intended to make conditional-use procedures clearer and to align parking and other regulatory items with expected growth of local businesses.
The recommendation sends the ordinance to the council for its hearing and final decision; staff noted there is a related hearing scheduled the following Monday. The commission took no final legislative action itself but forwarded its recommendation so the council can consider adoption after its public hearing.
