The Marshfield Police and Fire Commission accepted the resignation of records specialist Marie DS, effective June 12, and approved launching hiring processes to replace the position and to create an eligibility list for two anticipated officer vacancies.
Chief staff described Marie DS as an outstanding employee who joined in May 2022 and said she accepted a position with the Wood County District Attorney’s Office. "We'll miss Marie and her office tactics, but we wish her nothing but the best," the chief said. Commissioners moved and approved acceptance of the resignation by roll call.
The commission also approved immediately opening hiring for a replacement records specialist and establishing an eligibility list for two officers, citing a high volume of open-records requests and recent unofficial notices of resignation. Staff noted one official resignation for patrol officer Alex Mitchell had been received too late for packet inclusion but was on file.
Earlier in the meeting staff introduced a recently hired officer identified in the transcript as Lucas (transcript spelling varies between "Lucas Klo" and "Lucas Crackwell"), described as a Midstate Tech academy graduate from the Marshfield area assigned to field training with an FTO.
All personnel motions recorded on the meeting packet were approved by roll-call votes on the record.
