Jazz Fest, zoo newborns and fare-free transit for voters featured in city briefing

Haley Brown reported a slate of community items: Greenville Jazz Fest, presented by Prisma Health, featured two stages, 18 performances and 14 local food vendors, and the Second Line Parade presented by Adidas marched from Maine and Broad to the Reedi stage with student performers from 11 county high schools.

At the Greenville Zoo, two ocelot kittens were born to Arietta and Oz and will be entered into the species survival breeding plan; a 42-year-old flamingo underwent an echocardiogram by the Upstate Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital with no significant issues reported. Parks crews and volunteers worked at Cancer Survivors Park to paint railings and clean debris. Thanks to sponsorship from Greenville Connects, Green Link buses and Paratransit Service were fare-free on Tuesday to help residents get to the polls.
