District construction managers briefed the Haverford board on the Coopertown school renovation, saying work is largely on track but finish-line tasks and the gym floor will dictate an exact reopening date.
Ken and Randon updated the board on June 11: the kindergarten wing is painted and flooring begins next week; the main entrance and mechanical work are underway; two rear additions are finished; and the kitchen demo is complete. "We're in the home stretch," one project manager said, estimating the total project roughly 8085% complete.
Budget and schedule: Staff reported about $420,000 in contingency and roughly $180,000 in allowances remain. "That leaves about $600,000 total of contingency and allowances," the manager said. They noted the gym floor remains the schedule-critical path item and could push some completion work into late summer or early September, though teams are aiming to finish earlier.
Solar and next steps: Solar-panel installation on Coopertown is due to begin over the summer as part of the electrical contract; Chattam Park solar work is also planned for mid-July with a multiweek installation window. Staff committed to sending weekly progress updates to families as the district approaches the opening of the next school year.
What's next: Construction teams will continue summer installations and provide visual progress updates for the board and families; administrators plan regular communications so families know timing and contingency.
