Board approves personnel items and asks staff to draft policy on employee residency for student enrollment

The Crete‑Monee CUSD 201U board approved multiple personnel items during the June 11 special meeting, including a contract for a lead administrative dean and a memorandum of agreement with the Cremon Education Association addressing packaging at Cremon Middle School for the 2026–2027 school year.

The items were considered under personnel and culture and were approved on a roll call vote after a motion and second. Board members recorded affirmative votes during the roll call; no member rose in opposition during the public meeting.

In an extended old‑business discussion, trustees debated whether to adopt a staff‑residency policy allowing employees to enroll their children in district schools when space permits. Board members said the policy could be a tool to attract and retain staff, particularly at the high‑school level, but raised concerns that staff would have to be present for a minimum period to qualify, that capacity varies by building and grade level, and that state funding differences for out‑of‑district tuition need to be evaluated.

Administrators agreed to prepare a preliminary policy draft and a cost analysis — including an estimate of what the district would receive in state and federal per‑pupil revenue and how residency checks and safeguards would be enforced — and to return with that information at a future meeting.

No final policy vote occurred at the June 11 meeting; the board moved into closed session on personnel matters to address appointments and other employee issues.
