The Nibley City Council approved an ordinance on second reading that adjusts compensation for elected officials, statutory officers and department heads, and the council also altered the agenda to remove several preliminary tax-related items on May 28.
A motion to approve the compensation ordinance on second reading was made and seconded; the council recorded four votes in favor and one opposed and the ordinance passed. Cheryl Bodley called the roll and the clerk recorded the outcome.
Earlier in the meeting council heard a staff explanation of a late packet item (a $2,000 reclassification from capital projects to impact fees) and approved Resolution 2616 on first reading to include an additional street impact-fee adjustment; staff noted a public hearing must be scheduled before final action on that item.
Later, Council Member Nathan moved and Nick seconded a procedural motion to suspend the rules and remove items 10 through 16 from the agenda; council approved that motion unanimously, noting those items had been included only to comply with truth-in-taxation notice contingencies tied to a tentative tax increase that council ultimately did not pursue.
What’s next: Resolution 2616 will return for public hearing and final action at a future meeting; the compensation ordinance will be incorporated into personnel/pay records per the adopted schedule.
