The Orangetown Planning Board on May 7 approved a sign permit to replace the existing Orange Market sign at the Orangetown Shopping Center with front‑lit white channel letters for a new Old World Food Market location.
Greg Cass, identifying himself as editor of 99 Signs and representing Old World Food, said the company will remove the existing sign and “fabricate front lit channel letters around the same size” to fit the center’s existing brackets and to match Old World’s preferred style. He said the sign will be white and discreet, intended to fit the shopping center appearance.
Board members asked questions about visibility and design details but heard no public comments; the public portion of the item was closed. A board member moved to approve the application, members voted in favor by voice, and the chair confirmed the sign application was approved.
The decision allows the applicant to proceed with fabrication and installation consistent with the approved drawings; any required building‑ or electrical‑permit steps were not described during the discussion and will follow the town’s standard permitting process.
