At its June 11 meeting the Woodbridge Economic Development Commission agreed to move forward on an initial marketing effort aimed at attracting developers and new businesses while supporting existing operators.
Sean (speaker 3) volunteered to draft a straw‑case messaging plan that would identify objectives, audiences and deliverables. Members described three likely deliverables: a printed pamphlet for in‑person outreach, a presentation deck for meetings with developers, and a web‑accessible dashboard of key local data (population, income, traffic counts) for online discovery.
"What are the challenges? What are the things that attract people here?" Sean asked, urging the group to list key messages and data points the EDC should present to prospective developers and business owners. Committee members recommended including demographic and traffic statistics, tax‑and‑incentive information where applicable, and examples of local sites and properties.
Members also suggested using the town newsletter, e‑news, social media and targeted mailings to distribute promotional materials; the EDC will circulate a draft flyer for review, then leverage town channels and local bulletin boards to promote the July 29 connectivity meeting and other events.
The commission reported that the town is drafting a part‑time economic development director job description; staff said that once the position description is finalized the EDC will have an opportunity to provide input and that the new hire would help sustain outreach and developer relations.
The EDC agreed to continue work on the marketing deliverables and to schedule a special meeting if necessary to finalize the materials before broader promotion.
