The Villa Park Senior Concerns Commission on June 11, 2026, approved the minutes from its April 6 meeting, signed off on plans for a senior luncheon set for June 16 and shared details about the Sept. 19 Love Your Neighbor Day volunteer program, Chair Cindy Wood said.
The commission moved and voted to approve the April 6 minutes. A subsequent motion to provide food for the June 16 "salt" luncheon — including hot dogs, chips, buns, dessert (the group discussed cookies or ice cream) and drinks such as lemonade, coffee and iced tea — was made and seconded and carried. Commissioners said the budget appears sufficient but did not specify an amount; volunteers or commissioners will purchase food at Restaurant Depot.
Chair Cindy Wood relayed a message from Commissioner Tina Costans about Love Your Neighbor Day, which is scheduled for Sept. 19, 2026. Wood said the program provides exterior repairs at no cost to homeowners who are seniors with physical or financial challenges and that all labor and supplies are provided by volunteers. "The date for the Love Your Neighbor Day is September 19th, 2026," Wood said, and she gave a contact for applications: "Doris Carter at 630241026." The commission did not provide additional funding details.
There was no public comment during the meeting. With no further business the commission moved to adjourn and ended the session.
The commission is scheduled to meet again at a time to be announced; agenda items and any budget details were not specified at the June 11 meeting.
