The California State Senate unanimously approved SCR 181 on June 12, designating June 10 as Family Justice Center Day and recognizing the statewide Family Justice Center network that coordinates services for survivors of interpersonal violence.
Senator Grayson introduced the resolution, saying the 26 Family Justice Centers across California help survivors access housing assistance, legal support, mental health counseling and other services in one location. He said the centers serve tens of thousands of survivors each year and described them as “a beacon of healing, hope, and safety.”
Senator Rubio and Majority Leader Ashby joined in support, highlighting the centers’ role in preventing further violence and improving cross-agency collaboration. With no objections, the item was handled by unanimous roll call substitution; the presiding officer announced ayes 36, noes 0 and the resolution passed.
Senator Grayson introduced members of the California Family Justice Center Network and Sacramento-area guests to the chamber following the vote. The resolution is ceremonial and aims to recognize the network’s work and raise awareness of survivor services across the state.
