Residents at a Sunland Park meeting urged faster mitigation and clearer communication as construction tied to the Carlos Aguirre drainage project created daily disruptions and persistent sewage odors.

One resident said trucks were parked in the middle of the road, leaving a single lane and sometimes blocking the neighborhood’s only exit, and said Border Patrol vehicles and construction patterns made travel hazardous. “Our only entrance is road... road is my only way out,” the resident said, asking how long the disruption would last.
