Richland One approves administrative hires and 20 new teachers for 2026'27 school year

After returning from executive session, the Rich One School Board of Commissioners approved a series of administrative hires and appointments and the hiring of 20 teachers for the 2026'27 school year.

Dr. Kumis presented the personnel items and said the administration recommends hiring a coordinator of special services (DA) and appointing principals and interim principals including BS (Central Ford Elementary), MJ (Meadowfield Elementary), BR (Lower Richland High School), MD (WG Sanders Middle School), CM (Burnside Elementary), AM (interim principal at Hayyatt Park Elementary), RM (interim principal at Hayward Career Center) and RW (interim director of career and technology education). The board also approved the hiring of 20 teachers listed in the meeting materials.

Each hire and appointment was moved and seconded; the motions carried unanimously. Commissioners asked one clarifying question during the hiring block (a count of teachers approved was confirmed at 20).
