Commission grants $7,500 to Sling County Fair and Rodeo

The commission approved a $7,500 funding request for the Sling County Fair and Rodeo on its second reading, moving the request into the group of awarded event funds for the year.

Chair opened the funding discussion and told members that with the Sling Fair’s request included, total funding requests were $46,870 against a $50,000 budget and that previously approved awards totaled about $30,270 (not including the current request). Members noted the fair’s plan for an open-air rodeo and local fundraising efforts; Amy relayed that she had recently met with a contact named Julie Kerr who confirmed the rodeo and associated fundraisers.

Commissioners expressed support and noted the commission had provided $7,500 to the fair in 2025 as well. Following a motion to approve the full $7,500, the commission voted by voice and granted the funding.

What’s next: the approved award will be reflected in the commission’s funding tallies; staff will continue to track remaining requests against the $50,000 allocation for the year.
