Licensing board adds Southcoast Health to one-day liquor permit for June 11 gala at 600 Devoll Street

Board members clarified that Southcoast Health is the event client and argued the organizer should be listed on the permit so there is a clear responsible party. Staff confirmed the caterer holds a caterer’s license, a transportation-of-alcohol license and liability insurance. The board also verified event logistics: hours of operation from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., alcohol service to end at 9:30 p.m., and an estimated attendance of about 450 people.

A board member noted they had spoken with Detective Moniz and that Southcoast Health had been in contact with police, but the board stressed organizers must ensure the police detail is in place. The board then moved to amend the application so the permit would include Southcoast Health (or whatever legal entity is operating the event) along with the caterer. Mr. Prior made the motion; it was seconded and approved by voice vote with no recorded opposition.

Staff told the applicant that either the caterer or Southcoast Health may pay for and pick up the permit, and that payment can be completed online or at the office. The meeting adjourned after the vote.
