The Middlebury Select Board on June 9 approved a $1,111,130 construction engineering services agreement with Right Pierce and authorized filing a state SRF loan application to advance the town’s wastewater pump‑station and SPR-controls upgrade.
Public works presenter Emily told the board the loan application must be submitted promptly. "We potentially lose the funding if we don't get this application in by June 30th," she said, and described the engineering-services agreement as the next step to take the project through bidding and construction oversight.
Emily said the project was separated into phases so the town could pursue funding: "The loan is for the entire project … which is just over $6 million," she said. The engineering agreement covers the construction‑engineering phase (bid and construction observation) after final design has been completed.
A board member moved to approve the engineering-services agreement; the motion was seconded and approved by voice. The board then moved and approved filing the loan application.
Staff asked for and received direction to return materials required for the SRF application and to include related procurement items in future packets so members could review detailed budget lines and schedule items before construction.
