Votes at a glance: Franklin committee approves personnel, SROs, tax exemptions and routine measures

The committee approved R8826 and R8926 to provide two and three school resource officers, respectively, to nearby school districts for 2026–2027. Personnel contract extensions and employment agreements for township staff — including payroll/finance, construction-office technical assistant, tax collector and the chief of police (R9126, R9226, R9326, R9426) — were approved by voice vote.

Resolutions R10126, R10226 and R10326 authorized tax exemptions for totally disabled veterans. The committee released a performance bond for Newfield Dollar General LLC (R9526) and approved engineering costs tied to NJDOT paving reimbursements totaling $31,884 (R9726).

Other routine business included the appointment of special law-enforcement personnel and sponsorship of a recruit for county police academy training (R9826, R9926), and the clerk was authorized to prepare estimated third-quarter tax bills under state law (R10626).

Most motions passed by recorded or voice votes as shown in the meeting record; a small number of items drew single "no" votes noted in the minutes. The committee adjourned after committee reports on local events and library services.
