Town Manager Paige updated the Select Board on strategic‑plan outreach and survey results at the June 9 meeting, saying resident feedback emphasized walkability, schools and essential services.
Paige summarized two Founders Day engagement exercises and a statistically sampled survey of 471 randomly selected households (approximately a ±4.5 percentage‑point margin of error). She reported topline findings: "94% say Foxborough is a great place to raise children. 93% feel safe. 91% call it a great place to live and 90% rate quality of life as high," Paige said. Residents prioritized essential services overall, with schools also ranking highly.
The outreach identified recurring infrastructure requests, including sidewalks on South Street, bike lanes and improved pedestrian connections. "Sidewalk and bike lane requests are particularly consistent across all three exercises," Paige said. She noted concerns about traffic and noise related to Gillette Stadium: 93% saw the stadium's economic impact as positive, while 69% cited traffic as a negative and 61% cited noise.
Paige said the strategic plan will include an open‑house event on Sept. 29 from 3 to 7 p.m. and that staff will continue outreach and refine priorities based on survey results before progressing to feasibility and implementation steps with the board.
Next procedural steps: continued community outreach, an open house in September, and staff follow‑up on specific infrastructure requests as part of the strategic‑planning timeline.
